Background

Hi, I’m Daniel — a ceramicist currently studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University. My creative journey began in fine art, where I developed an early interest in sculpture, papercraft, and papermaking. That hands-on, material-led focus naturally evolved into working with wood, and eventually brought me to ceramics — a medium that instantly felt like home. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Throwing on the wheel is at the core of my practice. I’m drawn to its rhythm, its quiet repetition, and the way it connects body, material, and form. But my work extends beyond the wheel. I’m curious about all aspects of the ceramic process — from making my own glazes to experimenting with wild clays and alternative firing techniques. These methods not only allow for creative exploration, but also speak to a more sustainable and grounded approach to making.

I enjoy creating functional wares — simple, useful objects that bring a sense of care and beauty into daily life. Whether it’s a mug, a bowl, or a plate, I’m interested in how handmade items can add warmth and presence to everyday moments.
